Involvement

Introduction

Playing the piano is often an event of solitude where the pianist interacts with the piano to make sounds into music. The student practising at home will sometimes have fairly disinterested onlookers in the form of parents or siblings and apart from the teacher, they are often the only people who might enjoy their music making. This is a sad fact for many, many piano students around the world who don't have the advantage of ensemble (group) playing that other instrumental students enjoy. Most schools have some form of band, orchestra or choir that will perform in school concerts and local eisteddfodau and these events encourage and motivate students to achieve to the best of their ability. However, these same schools don't offer such incentives for students who learn the piano.

The good news is that a good piano studio can use already established events and create its own performing oppurtunities for students. These can be just as effective - if not more - in creating a feeling of collaboration, excitement and inspiration.

Treviano Studio uses a combination of external and internal events to help students become more involved and focused on their music. The six basic activities are:

Theory Classes
Examinations
Competitions
Concerts
Workshops
