Workshops are regularly held at our studio and consist of both
Mr and Mrs Trevatt and 4 to 8 students of a similar standard. Students
have an opportunity to play to one another and to comment on each other's
playing in a positive and encouraging way. The teacher suggests areas
to listen for and guides the students to find ways of improving the pieces
they hear. This helps to develop a student's ability to listen and to
find practical ways of fixing problems.
Holding one, or even a series of workshops before an exam, competition
or concert, is one of the best ways to help reduce performance anxiety.
Workshops also provide students an environment to 'test drive' a piece
in a non-threatening way to prepare for an important event. They are
also a great regular, short-term incentive for students to work for.
